LASWERK brings musicians from diverse artistic backgrounds together for one day for a one-time concert in De Nieuwe Zaal, Hasselt. Hosts Bert Peyffers and Adil Benshain, along with guest musicians, explore the junction between genres and instrumentation.

Double the fun! We’re teaming up with our colleagues from De Nieuwe Zaal, Het Nieuwstedelijk, who will also be presenting De Poetsman by and with Prince K. Appiah that evening. The theater show starts at 7:30 PM, and we seamlessly continue with LASWERK in the foyer afterward.

For this edition, we welcome a diverse group of musicians: Wim Cops, Vitja Pauwels, Louise Van Den Heuvel, and Luca Fazioli.

Wim Cops graduated as a flamenco guitarist from the conservatory in Rotterdam under the guidance of Paco Peña. Additionally, he studied with Ricardo Mendeville and Hans van Gogh, and attended masterclasses with, among others, Paco Serrano and Manolo Franco.

Vitja Pauwels started playing guitar at the age of six. While he initially found himself captivated by classical music, he gradually developed a broader interest in jazz, pop, rock, folk, noise, and electronic music.

Louise Van Den Heuvel is a Dutch bassist, composer, and teacher. She has collaborated with artists such as Zwangere Guy, Lander Gyselinck, and Bruno Vansina. Since 2023, Van Den Heuvel has also been creating neo-soul with the French/Brussels singer STACE. Additionally, she is part of the Elfurenmis house band alongside Bert Peyffers.

Luca Fazioli, straight out of Maasmechelen, is a guitarist for bands including Mojo And The Kitchen Brothers, Cellini, Loleeta, and Gos Rosling. The PXL-Music alumnus will be playing a home match at Laswerk.

Adil studied viola at the conservatory in Maastricht but also plays the derbouka (Arabic vase drum) and mainly the oud (Arabic lute). Additionally, he composes music. He was previously seen at B-Classic as a soloist during a stunning Eleven O'Clock Mass and, with his musically open mind, is the ideal co-host.

Bert has become indispensable in the Belgian music scene in recent years. As a master of all percussion and an atmosphere creator with bands such as Wamaki's, Ão, and Vermin Twins, he has made his mark. This year, he also strengthened our Eleven O'Clock Mass house band and is now bringing musicians together for LASWERK.

Expect musical sparks, melting fun, surprising twists, and an ideal opportunity to autogenously network in an artistic habitat along the Albert Canal. The setting will also be a surprise; we will nestle somewhere in the Foyer of De Nieuwe Zaal. Whether in a corner, on the stairs, at the bar, or in the hallway... Admission is completely free.
