The final indoor edition of LASWERK is here. Yes, indoor, because this summer, we’re heading outside and bringing the sparks to Absolutely Free Festival in Genk. More on that soon.

But first, one last evening in Bootstraat. Hosts Bert Peyffers and Adil Benhsain invite three exceptional guests for this closing edition: Youniss, Nina Kortekaas and Selma El Yazidi. Three distinctive voices, three sonic worlds that meet, collide and resonate.

Youniss creates raw, confrontational music where noise, hip hop, post-punk and electronics clash with cutting social commentary. His work dives deep into what it means to live and create as a Black man in a European context. His acclaimed album White Space brought him to stages like Rewire and Out The Frame. With his newest project Do We Try Beyond The Edge?, he pushes his sound even further, shouting louder and clearer than ever before.

Nina Kortekaas is a singer, keyboardist and composer. As the driving force behind Noa Lee, she blends melody, jazzy nuance and cinematic atmosphere into layered indie music. With Portland, she seamlessly adds her voice to the band’s dreamy sound, and as a sought-after collaborator, she’s worked with Eefje de Visser, Admiral Freebee and Sylvie Kreusch. Her music is delicate, imaginative and full of emotional depth.

Selma El Yazidi is a young qanun player with a remarkable trajectory. She began at age six, went viral with millions of views, and has since performed in Belgium, Morocco, France and Lebanon. Selma combines deep knowledge of the Moroccan-Andalusian repertoire with a curious ear for other genres, from classical to reggae. At just 14, she became the youngest person ever to earn the top diploma at the National Conservatory of Music in Fès.

An evening of sharp edges, soft transitions and everything in between. See you there?
