After a smashing first edition, The Cabinet Sessions are back!
On Friday evening, 27 June, performance artists Gregory Frateur and Fleur Pierets will take you on a musical journey through art and activism. Enjoy summery DJ sets from, among others, Hantrax, and celebrate Rubens’ birthday at the stroke of midnight with a silent disco in the garden. Don’t miss this Birthday Edition!
Fleur Pierets & Gregory Frateur
Can art save the world? An age-old question that remains burning hot today. Writer and performance artist Fleur Pierets shares her passionate vision in a powerful lecture during The Cabinet Sessions. Together with the audience, she candidly reflects on the role of art in contemporary activism. Singer and performer Gregory Frateur, known as the front man of Dez Mona, joins in with a musical response. Backed by the resident band of curator B-Classic, he translates the theme into sound. The result? A stimulating, immersive performance full of stillness, wonder and inspiration.

3× DJ sets in Rubens’ Garden
Dance beneath the Antwerp stars to the beats of three top DJs. Among others, Hantrax, artist-in-residence at the Rubenshuis, serves up cool beats and an explosive vibe. Thanks to silent-disco headphones, you experience the music at your own rhythm.

Gelli-Plate Workshop
Fancy taking home a real piece of Rubens’ garden? In this workshop you’ll learn how to create an original print using real leaves, flowers and branches. With the gelli-plate technique—an intuitive, analogue process with surprising results—Rubens’ garden becomes your canvas and you become the artist for a while.

At the stroke of midnight we celebrate Rubens’ birthday—and we’ll do it properly with tasty food and drinks. Order a drink at the bar or try a freshly baked pizza from Antwerp’s V-pizza. Rubens treats everyone to a refreshing ice-cream under the stars.

About Curator B-Classic
Each year the Rubenshuis hands over the key to the cabinet to an inspiring curator. In 2025, B-Classic invites visitors into their world. B-Classic facilitates encounters between artists, genres and audiences, opens up classical music, and explores how music—past and present—is created and experienced. They support artists and creators without blinkers, giving them the space to create, experiment and present.
