Isabelle Lewis feat. Valgeir Sigurðsson (IS/BE)
A unique fusion of electronic and contemporary classical music that has been on the WINTER TALES Festival shortlist for quite some time.
At the invitation of B-Classic, theatre maker, opera director and countertenor Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe joined forces with Icelandic composer, musician and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Damon Albarn, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Anohni, Feist, CocoRosie, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Víkingur Ólafsson, among many others) to explore the intersection of electronic and contemporary classical music. Not long after, violinist Elisabeth Klinck joined the project.
What began as a remarkable artistic encounter evolved into an intriguing trio whose debut album *Greetings*, released on the renowned Icelandic label Bedroom Community, immediately made a lasting impression. On stage, a dreamlike and mysterious world unfolds where poetic vocals, refined electronics and captivating violin lines merge seamlessly.
Isabelle Lewis is more than a concert; it is a journey through the melancholic electronic landscapes of Sigurðsson, the poetic operatic voice of Meirhaeghe and the masterful finesse of Klinck's violin playing. Together, they create an intimate and dreamlike universe that lingers long after the final note. Intimate, innovative and deeply emotional — a performance that resonates long after it ends.
CHVE (BE)
As the vocalist of the Belgian post-metal collective Amenra, Colin H. van Eeckhout is known for forging a powerful connection with listeners and guiding them through Amenra's transformative path toward healing. Through his solo project CHVE, he tells a deeply personal story, one that aims to lead listeners inward and awaken something primal that resides within us all.
Colin began writing his solo material fourteen years ago. After purchasing a hurdy-gurdy together with Amenra guitarist Lennart Bossu, he started experimenting with the sounds the instrument could produce. Before long, he had almost enough material for an album.
"I am a very emotional person; I work and create from feeling," says Colin. "I tried to speak through the instrument and discover how to extract emotion from it. I find it fascinating to see what you can draw from an instrument before learning how to play it properly, because it allows for a very honest and direct approach."
"Although I never intended to make a solo album, when you're in bands throughout your life there is always that question: what would your personal story sound like?"
For Colin, CHVE represents complete creative freedom: the ability to experiment with sound without limitations and embrace the vulnerability that comes with creating alone. The hypnotic music of CHVE is almost mind-altering, as the droning repetitions of the hurdy-gurdy, various percussion instruments and effects merge with the soft, otherworldly quality of Colin's voice.
Kiiōtō feat. Lou Rhodes of Lamb (UK)
A project by Lou Rhodes (Lamb) and Rohan Heath (The Urban Cookie Collective).
Kiiōtō is one of the most remarkable creative offspring of the COVID lockdown years. Singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes, former lead singer and co-founder of Lamb, crossed paths with award-winning songwriter and pianist Rohan Heath and embarked on a completely new musical journey after both had effectively hung up their musical boots.
Their debut album *As Dust We Rise* began during a road trip through Louisiana, was completed in the United Kingdom and released in 2024 to widespread critical acclaim. Their music carries a rich, jazz-infused energy and emotional depth: intuitive, unrestricted compositions guided not by genre but by inspiration.
In April 2026, they released their new album *Black Salt*. On this record, the arrangements remain sparse yet daring, drawing influence from jazz, broken beat and soul, while echoing artists as diverse as Carole King, Khruangbin and Alice Coltrane. The result is once again an album that refuses to belong to a single genre, held together instead by the unique interplay between Heath's melodic sensitivity and Rhodes' unmistakable voice.
Reflecting on the album, Heath explains: "Creating Black Salt was no easy task. Yet it was born from conflict, tension and introspection. At times it felt like two planets colliding; a new star emerging from chaos and heat, brighter than the sum of what was destroyed."
"Black Salt was a coming-of-age ritual," adds Rhodes, "one that often took us far beyond our comfort zones. The result, however, is an album we are incredibly proud of."
