Bert Cools
Bert Cools starts playing guitar at the age of 7. Very soon, he develops both the acoustic and the electronic side of music. He completes his master's degree in jazz guitar at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where he takes lessons with Hein Van de Gein, Ed Verhoef and Hariprasad Chaurasia. In 2010, he wins the Rotterdam 'Erasmus jazz prize'.
Together with his brother Stijn Cools, Bert founded the creative platform 'granvat' in 2013. A platform that focuses mainly on electronica, folk, world music and improvisation. Granvat has many releases and projects playing concerts both nationally and internationally. Book of air vvolk & Fieldtone, Merope, Hooray, Solo& Indre, AAN/EOP, Hariprasad Chaurasia. Besides Granvat, Bert is also an in-demand side man.
