B-Classic - Ewout Lehoucq

Ewout Lehoucq

Ewout Lehoucq is a Belgian performer, theatre-maker, singer (bass-baritone and countertenor) and cellist. He discovered his love for opera and music theatre as a member of the children’s chorus of the Flanders Opera. Alongside studies in literature at the University of Antwerp and drama at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, he developed a versatile artistic practice spanning music, theatre and performance.

His work deliberately crosses genres and disciplines. As a cellist, singer and performer, he moves between classical repertoire, chanson, cabaret, gipsy swing jazz and experimental music theatre. He is a member of Les Âmes Perdues, the Antwerp-based music theatre collective known for its playful approach to musical boundaries, moving freely from motets and classical repertoire to cabaret and popular music. He has also collaboratedated with companies and artists including Muziektheater Transparant, Zonzo Compagnie, deRoovers, NTGent and Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe.

For B-Classic, Ewout Lehoucq joined Elfurenmis in 2026 as a cellist, adding his voice to the musical core of this Sunday morning ritual for an edition featuring theatre-maker Sien Vanmaele.
