Karavan is an adventurous music collective led by violinist Lorenzo Gatto, alongside Julia Kotarba, Natalia Kotarba, Mikko Pablo, Anouchka Scaillet and Diede Verpoest. Six classically trained musicians from diverse backgrounds, united by curiosity, improvisation and a desire to move beyond the boundaries of the classical repertoire.

Karavan weaves timeless compositions together with original creations, allowing music to emerge through workshops, improvisation, movement and experimentation. Nothing is ever completely fixed. Drawing on influences from chamber music, jazz, folk, world music, pop and electronics, the musicians develop an ever evolving musical language.

Along the way, Karavan invites guest musicians to continuously open up and reshape that language. They have collaborated with artists including Kaito Winse, Ambi Subramaniam, Simon Leleux, Karim Baggili, Tristan Driessens and Julien Brocal. Each encounter becomes a new stop on a musical journey centred around freedom, play and connection.

For B-Classic, Karavan performed at Festival BEROERT in 2025, bringing the collective’s open and adventurous approach to music making into the festival’s distinctive setting.
