A I – the egg of Columbus or the ai of oh my, what have we invented now?
In this edition of Elfurenmis, you will find out.
Fredo De Smet is a father and a DJ. In 2001, he graduated with a Master in Art Sciences, with a philosophical thesis that questioned the value of reality itself. Since 2010, he has worked as a curator, exploring the role of humans within change and innovation. In 2018, he published Artificial Stupidity, a guide to digital humanism (Lannoo Campus). Fredo is curator at the and and festival for FTI Leuven and founded Long Term Society, an organisation for European leaders and entrepreneurs committed to long-term impact. His thinking is radically future-oriented: transformation begins by daring to look at what is hidden. He helps organisations loosen rigid structures, uncover invisible dynamics and explore new narratives. In this Elfurenmis, Fredo reflects on the topic of artificial intelligence.
Andrew Claes, saxophonist, began his musical journey at the age of nine at the Berchem music academy, where he studied classical guitar, electric bass and tenor saxophone. After an early fascination with John Coltrane, the saxophone became his instrument of choice. At the same time, he was active as a producer of electronic dance music and scored a club hit at the age of seventeen with Gods of House under the name Monastic Project. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Jeroen Van Herzeele and continued his education in Antwerp with Ben Sluijs and Kurt Van Herck. His projects range from electronic productions to improvised music and theatre compositions. Claes is active in Cosa Nova, an electroacoustic free-form collective in which he experiments with multimedia.
Elfurenmis is a co-production by De VELINX and B Classic.
